What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is a robust security measure that enhances the safety of your AWARD® account. It requires users to provide two or more forms of authentication when logging in, ensuring that even if your username and password are compromised, your account remains secure. Typically, this additional factor is a one-time code generated by a mobile app.
Setting up MFA for your AWARD® account is easy. Here's how to do it:
Step 1: Prepare Your Mobile Device / Install an Authenticator App
Ensure your mobile device is ready for setup.
Download and install an authenticator app on your mobile device. Popular options include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and FreeOTP.
Step 2: Log In to AWARD®
Access AWARD® as you normally would through your company's AWARD® URL. Please note that for some of our customers, the login screen may appear slightly different from what you're used to (this is a feature of MFA on AWARD®).
Step 3: Enter Your Credentials
Input your username and password as usual.
Step 4: Setting Up MFA
If this is your first time using MFA, you'll encounter a screen displaying a QR code. Follow the on-screen instructions. Remember, there's a timeout, so complete the setup promptly.
Step 5: Device Identification
You'll be asked for a “Device Name” - we recommend use something obvious, for example, "Work PC."
Step 6: Authentication
Once you've completed these steps, you'll be taken to the Authentication screen in AWARD®, where you'll need to enter the one-time code generated by your Authenticator App or chosen method. If successful, you'll be logged into AWARD®.
Step 7: Future Logins
In the future, after entering your username and password successfully, you'll just be required to enter the one-time code as an additional security measure.
